Approval of the fifteenth annual renewal of an Inter-Governmental Agreement with the City of Oklahoma City for a Regional Household Hazardous Waste Collection and Management Program.
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) is defined as waste which would be chemically or physically classified as a hazardous waste, but is excluded from regulation as a hazardous waste pursuant to the regulations of the Environmental Protection Agency. HHW products common to the average household include pesticides, paints, polishes, cleaners and automotive supplies. It is illegal to dispose of these products in storm drains, creeks, rivers and household solid waste carts. This agreement with the city of Oklahoma City has provided Edmond residents with a HHW disposal option in addition to the contract with Waste Management Curbside. The fee structure per each resident per arrival or entry to the Oklahoma City HHW facility is as follows:
$39.50 fee for less than or equal to 7.5 gallons
$79.00 fee for more than 7.5 gallons but less than 15 gallons
$118.59 fee for more than 15 gallons but less than 22.5 gallons
$158.00 fee for over 22.5 gallons
Regardless of small or large quantities, the minimum charge per vehicle per arrival is $39.50, and the maximum charge per vehicle per arrival is $158.00. The fees are paid by the residents through utility billing.
